Anne Michael Pappas is a New Orleans based artist specializing in urban landscapes.  She holds a master’s degree in art history from the University of Chicago, served as director of education at the Arkansas Arts Center, and has taught university level courses in art history.

She trained at the San Francisco Art Institute and the New Orleans Academy of Art.  Anne’s work has received special recognition and has been awarded in juried exhibitions and is frequently featured in group exhibitions as well as solo showings.  Her work was acquired by the Arts Council of New Orleans for the Percent for Art City Collection.  She is represented by Gallery 600 Julia in New Orleans.

In her paintings Anne seeks to communicate an atmosphere reflective of time and place. New Orleans architecture, with its variety and character, is a continuing source of inspiration. The richly colored structures along with their decorative detail offer formal variations that act as perfect foils for the study of light and shadow.

Likewise, frequent trips to Italy with its unique light and topography have been a source for continued experimentation in composition and color.
